About ChinaSPAF

Established in 1999, China Shanghai International Arts Festival is a state-level annual international arts festival hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism and organized by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. As a major part of the Festival, the CSIAF performing arts fair (ChinaSPAF) is the leading annual marketplace for new work from China, connecting creators and arts professionals worldwide.


The last edition of ChinaSPAF succeeded with around 1000 delegates, 400 organizations from 47 countries and regions, including directors from international arts festivals and venue presenters from all over mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including –

We presented 26 live showcases, 10 professional development sessions, and one Special Programme: Theatre for Young Audiences, providing networking opportunities to facilitate international cooperation and showcasing latest traditional and contemporary works by most creative artists and ensembles in China.


ChinaSPAF 2020 runs from 15-19 October in Shanghai, China. In the light of COVID-19, ChinaSPAF initiates the e-Pass to provide an alternative digital channel for delegates who cannot travel to get engaged with the ChinaSPAF community. Also ChinaSPAF decides to extend the early-bird discount from the regular deadline of 16 June to 31 August 2020 as a way to support the global performing arts community who suffers from the pandemic situation.


With the uncertainty of this special and challenging time, you're NOT required to wire transfer before 1 July 2020. Further instructions on whether ChinaSPAF 2020 will go completely virtual or be presented both physically and virtually will be released by early July. You can decide how you want to be participate in the ChinaSPAF 2020 and pay the registration fee by then.
