Performance

This edition of CSIAF includes 57stage performances. Following BerlinerPhilharmoniker in Shanghai in June,the Munich Philharmonic, the LondonSymphony Orchestra, and the ViennaPhilharmonic will also come to Shanghaiduring the festival, alongside other world-class artists, groups, and pieces suchas Spartacus by the Bolshoi Ballet, LaBayadere by the Mariinsky Ballet, mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca, bass-baritoneBryn Terfel, pianist Yuja WANG, etc.

Centred around the 75th anniversaryof the PRC's establishment, CSIAF willpresent the drama Book of Life, musicalChasing Dreams, dance drama TheThunder, drama Going Rural, modernopera Shi Ping Mei, and many nonfictionand Red-themed works.With a focus onnorth-south cultural dialogue, CSIAFintroduces the Beijing People's ArtTheatre Performance Series and theDialect Performance Series, where theBeijing People's Art Theatre brings 5major productions with them to Shanghaifor a month, alongside made-in-Shanghaistage plays performed in Shanghainesethat showcases the unique charm ofShanghai culture.Performances themedaround "Poetry Extravaganza - TalentGathering", such as kunju Convivium ofTang Luminaries,Peking Opera Xuetao,etc will be introduced. Works such asphysical theatre production Sculpture andPoetry and dance drama The Reunion ofOasis echo the rise of modern Chinesecultural pride, bringing cultural relics to life on stage.
