The immersive theater production As If True draws on the pre-Qin literature The Classic of Mountains and Seas. Its three original parallel allegories explore joy and pain, power and desire, and truth and lies, unfolding through three interwoven storylines that converge in a closed-loop structure. The work creates a theatrical model co-created by live performers, AI agents, and the audience. Functioning as independent performers, the AI agents can reason through developments in real time and improvise dialogue. NFC interactive technology is deployed throughout the venue, allowing audience members to unlock hidden narrative branches by touching props and to participate dynamically in generating the plot. Using an immersive environment shaped by Eastern carefree aesthetics, imagery from strange tales probe timeless questions on truth and falsehood, power and desire, as well as love.
