Love Letters is a classic of Chinese-language theatre. Its 25th-anniversary edition will be presented in 2026, directed by and starring Fang Xu alongside Zhao Qian. Performed by just two actors, the play uses more than seventy letters to trace the lives of Li Zhengguo and Chen Shufen and the emotional bond that connects them for over more than four decades. Its restrained, finely observed storytelling and sincere, moving performances evoke companionship, longing, and the many textures of life. A minimalist stage design is complemented by live cello music, as letters and music intertwine, the production presents a tenderness that endures over the years and invites audiences to rediscover the precious feelings that letters can hold.
