Adapted from a monologue by contemporary Spanish playwright Itziar Pascual, Holiday Out is a collaboration between Chinese and Spanish artists, starring Qi Xi as the lead. On her first solo journey, single traveller Shan Liang loses a suitcase filled with sentimental memories at the airport. Her search begins a series of humorous and poetic conversations with strangers, her past, and herself. Through a light and absurd comedic style and a nonlinear narrative, the play responds to the existential predicaments of contemporary life and explores individual value, self-reconciliation, and growth, finding the courage and hope to rediscover oneself behind “loss”.
