Salieri believes that he traded his soul for the chance to become a great composer, only to see God bestow the gift of genius on Mozart. He is consequently drawn into an intense conflict involving jealousy, faith, and fate. Based on Peter Shaffer’s classic play, Vakhtangov Theatre’s Chief Director Anatoly Shuliev cleverly incorporates Mozart’s music, letters, and historical materials, retelling this famous legend through an interplay of drama and music. Acclaimed Russian actors Aleksei Guskov and Victor Dobronravov share the stage as Salieri and Mozart.
