Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Gob Squad, an artists’ collective formed by British and German artists, creates a contemporary work combining theater, video, and live performance. Local performers of different ages join the cast, while cameras, frames and mirrored installations are used to reconsider the relationship between beauty, ageing, power, and observation. The production also explores the dynamic interactions between the artist, the artwork, and the audience. The work continues to embody Gob Squad’s creative speciality across the boundaries of theatre, media and everyday life, and invites audiences to rethink art and the self through open and experimental expressions.
