Adapted from Herman Melville’s literary classic, Moby Dick is the final original music-theater work directed by the internationally celebrated theater master Robert Wilson, produced by Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus from Germany. Centered around Captain Ahab’s legendary pursuit of the white whale, the production moves beyond conventional narrative to transform an oceanic epic into a poetic and philosophical stage parable. Original music by British musician Anna Calvi is integrated into Wilson’s signature minimalist lighting, black-and-white geometry and sculptural figures to create a theatrical space of striking visual and musical power, one that stages the eternal spiritual struggle between humanity and nature, obsession and fate.
