TRISHA BROWN: IN PLAIN SITE pays tribute to the early creative spirit of American postmodern dance master Trisha Brown (1936–2017), reactivating her classic works in site-specific form. Moving beyond the boundaries of the conventional theatre, the performance places dance in museums and public spaces, where movement, architecture, the natural environment and the audiences come together to create an open site of artistic creation. The work continues Brown’s lifelong exploration of experimentation and art’s public dimension. Within ever-changing spatial relationships, the work reveals the limitless possibilities of dance beyond the stage and reconsiders the interactions among body, site and spectatorship, allowing dance to continually renew its vitality across different contexts.
