OUTSIDER is a collaboration between French choreographer Rachid Ouramdane and the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève. Performed by twenty dancers and four extreme sports athletes, it expands the expressive boundaries of dance through a cross-disciplinary performance. Continuing Ouramdane’s sustained exploration of the “collective”, the work is propelled by Julius Eastman’s minimalist music, a while probing the shifting balance between trust and risk, collaboration and freedom within a charged stage environment.. as bodies repeatedly gather, disperse, support and fall, revealing the subtle and complex relationship between the individual and the collective, while probing the shifting balance among trust, risk, collaboration and freedom within a stage space charged with tension.
