As the Music Director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Christian Thielemann will conduct André Heller’s 2020 production of Der Rosenkavalier in Shanghai. A landmark of Austro-German opera, the work is set in eighteenth-century Vienna and entwines love, maturity, and the passage of time within the rich language of late Romanticism. Renowned for his command of this repertoire, Thielemann reunites with the original company to present Strauss’s theatrical charm through rich and delicate orchestral sounds, exquisite character portrayals, and a spectacular stage.
