Rudolf Buchbinder is regarded as one of today’s most authoritative interpreters of Beethoven. Over more than sixty years, he has continued to study the composer’s music and has performed the complete piano sonata cycle more than sixty times worldwide. At this festival, he will join the Staatskapelle Berlin to perform all five Beethoven piano concertos across two evenings. The cycle traces the evolution of Beethoven’s creative style while displaying Buchbinder’s approach which consists of both traditional heritage and artistic freedom, offering the audience a rare panoramic encounter with Beethoven’s music.
