Known for its distinctive blend of Jiangnan silk-and-bamboo traditions and symphonic writing, the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra presents three major works honored with the Wenhua Music Award and the Golden Bell Award: Ode to Rivers, Lakes and Seas, Symphony of Feng, Ya and Song, and Light. Conducted by Peng Jiapeng with erhu soloist Zhu Changyao, the concert celebrates the mountains and rivers, carries cultural memory forward, and speaks to the present through the language of Chinese instrumental music. It demonstrates the developments of traditional Chinese orchestral music both in contemporary perspective and international outlook.
