UKUPACHA: Rituals & Rhythms – A Journey Through Time & Culture

Commissioned by the stage performing arts section of the Rising Artists’ Works (R.A.W.!) programme, UKUPACHA: Rituals & Rhythms – A Journey Through Time & Culture is a cross-media concert that fuses Afro-Andean traditional music, funk, electronic soundscapes, and cinematic visuals. The work draws inspiration from Ukupacha—the inner world of soul and memory in Andean cosmology. Emerging from the imagery of water, the profound themes of migration, struggle, identity, and rebirth unfold layer by layer with the progression of the narrative. Featuring Quechua chants, Afro-Peruvian festival music, dreamlike visuals, and dynamic percussion, it weaves together traditional instruments and digital storytelling to create an immersive sensory ritual—one that pulses with cultural resilience and ancestral memory.
