The Rite of Spring - JSCPA Dance Drama Commission

Inspired by Stravinsky’s iconic symphonic masterpiece, the original dance theatre The Rite of Spring by Jiangsu Grand Theatre reinterprets the century-defining modernist masterpiece through the lens of Chinese aesthetic philosophy. The drama centres on the community of artists in early 20th-century Paris, with a special focus on those Jiangsu native artists. Through innovative choreography and poetic visual imagery, the theatre weaves together the upheavals of the era and individual destinies, portraying the resilience and passion of young artists in the capital of modern art—ultimately unfolding a profound and intricate tableau of modern art.
