Azure After The Rain by Shanghai Dance Theatre

To commemorate the 940th anniversary of LI Qingzhao’s birth, the Shanghai Dance Theatre has meticulously created a dance drama titled Azure After The Rain, inspired by brilliant traditional Chinese culture. The play revolves around the dramatic life of the famous Song Dynasty female poet LI Qingzhao. From a modern perspective, it uniquely interprets the romantic and majestic spirit of this ‘foremost talent of all ages’ and ‘great master of poetry,’ as well as her profound love for her country. Through exquisite dance context and stage design, the work will delicately present the cultural charm of the Song Dynasty, cultural heritage, and folk culture of LI Qingzhao’s era, with the hope of conveying emotions through dance in a deeply touching art piece.
