Guangzhou Ballet Theatre

Guangzhou Ballet Theatre – founded in 1993, one of China's first five ballet companies. Renowned for its diverse artistic style, virtuosic technique, and world-class productions, it has created a repertoire of works that balance ideological depth, artistic merit, and audience appeal, invigorating the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese ballet.


The company maintains over 20 full-length ballets and has received 110+ national and international awards, plus 100+ provincial and municipal honors. Notable achievements include:


Return on a Snowy Night – winner of the 13th Wenhua Grand Prize and all individual Wenhua awards.


The Iron Army – supported by the 2019 National Arts Fund Large-Scale Stage Production Grant; finalist for the 12th China Dance "Lotus Award" (drama category).


The Flag – winner of the 13th China Dance "Lotus Award" for dance drama; Outstanding Repertoire at the 13th National Dance Showcase; recipient of the Guangdong 12th "Five-One Project" Excellence Award; supported by the 2023 National Arts Fund Dissemination and Promotion Grant; designated a Guangzhou key artistic creation and a "Century & 100 Performances" showcase production.


The Legend of the White Snake – recipient of the Guangdong 13th "Five-One Project" Excellence Award; Outstanding Repertoire at the 18th China Theatre Festival; winner of the 11th Guangdong Lu Xun Literature and Art Award (arts category) and First Prize for Large-Scale Stage Works at the 15th Guangdong Arts Festival; supported by the 2025 National Arts Fund Dissemination and Promotion Grant, the 2023 National Arts Fund Large-Scale Creation Grant, the Guangzhou Sixth Batch Key Cultural Support Project, and the Guangzhou Cultural and Tourism Development Special Fund (early-stage creation support).
