In 2003, violinist Richard Schmoucler and five musicians from the Orchestre de Paris, a pianist, and a cimbalom player co-founded Sirba Octet. The ensemble combines traditional classical and Eastern European folk music, aiming to break down musical boundaries. They draw from traditional music from Eastern Europe and Central Asia and reinterpret it according to the rules of Western European classical music, creating a unique musical form that bridges Western classical music, Gypsy music, and Klezmer music. This innovative approach preserves the essence of Klezmer music while bringing new life to the ancient traditions of Eastern Europe.
