Loosely based on the play of the same title by the 2004 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate, Austrian playwright Elfriede Jelinek, Zolan's composition discards the profound philosophical and even obscure metaphorical elements in the original work, interpreting the paradoxical journey of a woman's life from a unique musical perspective.
In contrast to the playwright's parallel exploration of six female characters from fairy tales and real life, Zolan takes an arresting musical expedition into an individual woman, who, like everyone else, is born with the Six Desires—a Buddhist concept referring to the six sensory pleasures derived from the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind—thereby enriching the experience and understanding of life.
