Teodor Currentzis and musicAeterna Orchestra

In 2004, conductor Teodor Currentzis founded MusicAeterna Orchestra in Novosibirsk, bringing together like-minded musicians with a shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional performance. In 2011, Currentzis was appointed Artistic Director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, and the ensemble joined the theatre troupe, expanding into a full symphony orchestra with the support of the local government. Since 2019, MusicAeterna has operated as an independent ensemble, with its creative base at the St. Petersburg Cathedral Concert Hall. It continues to engage the global music scene through innovative interpretations and experimental artistic exploration. This year marks the third appearance of Currentzis and MusicAeterna at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival. On the first night, they will perform Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs; on the second day , they will present The Ring Without Words by Wagner.
