Opera Cosi Fan Tutte (Semi-Staged Version) by Shanghai Opera House and CSIAF Orchestra

Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, composed in 1789 with a libretto by Da Ponte, stands as a pivotal milestone in the history of opera buffa. With bold strokes, it explores the deception of love and the complexities of human nature, retaining a strikingly avant-garde resonance even today. The opera features beautiful music, nuanced psychological portrayals, and ingenious structure—especially notable is its revolutionary use of ensembles, which transformed the the very fabric of comic opera. This classic work will be presented in a semi-staged version at the 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, conducted by XU Zhong, director and conductor of the Shanghai Opera House. The Shanghai Opera House will once again join forces with the festival orchestra and a distinguished cast of Chinese and international singers to bring this timeless masterpiece to life.
