Li-Wei Qin Cello Recital

Li-Wei QIN is one of the most celebrated cellists of his generation, having won the Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition and the Gold Medal at the Naumburg International Cello Competition in New York. In this concert, he will join pianist HUANG Qiuning in a programme themed around “C major,” presenting cello masterpieces spanning four centuries and tracing the instrument’s artistic evolution and legacy. The repertoire includes Bach’s contrapuntal mastery, Beethoven’s emotional depth, and contemporary explorations by Britten and Demenga. Among them, Demenga’s work EFEU holds particular significance—its title derives from the initials of cello master Emanuel Feuermann, embodying the philosophical notion that “the one who pays tribute shall, in time, be tributed.”
