Don Giovanni by Shanghai Opera House

Don Giovanni is a two-act comic opera by Austrian composer Mozart from the Classical period, with a libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. It was composed in 1787 and received high praise from audiences during its premiere at the Prague Theatre that same year, considered one of the finest operas ever performed in Prague. In 2024, a panoramic stage version of Don Giovanni will be co-produced by the Shanghai Opera House and the China Shanghai International Arts Festival. Conducted by XU Zhong, director of the Shanghai Opera House and a renowned conductor and pianist, the Shanghai Opera House’s opera troupe, choir, and symphony orchestra, along with several outstanding Chinese and international singers, will deliver a novel, detailed, and unique interpretation of Mozart’s classic.
