Boris Eifman’s ballet Anna Karenina is a work filled with emotional intensity, showcasing his remarkable ability to accurately express the psychological depth of the characters. He sets aside all the subplots from Leo Tolstoy’s novel, focusing solely on the love triangle between Anna, Karenin, and Vronsky. Eifman uses the language of dance to depict the rebirth of a woman. His work is not about telling a story of the past but about narrating the present, with emotions in the production transcending time and resonating with contemporary reality. The dancers’ superb technique, combined with Eifman’s stunning choreography, fully captures the essence of Tolstoy’s novel.
