Dance Drama 10909 by Wuxi Opera and Dance Theatre
The Dance Drama 10909 focuses on the theme of China’s manned deep-sea exploration. Co-produced by the Wuxi Opera and Dance Theatre (Jiangsu National Dance Theatre) and China Shipbuilding 702 Institute, the production is set against the backdrop of China's development in manned deep-sea exploration. It vividly portrays the resilience and courage of Chinese scientists and deep-sea explorers in their quest to explore the ocean’s depths. The title 10909 refers to the new Chinese record set by the Fendouzhe (Striver) bathyscaphe, which successfully reached a depth of 10,909 meters in the Mariana Trench. The dance drama skillfully uses various stage installations and technological means to recreate deep-sea scenes. Enhanced by multimedia technology, the stage transforms into the deep ocean, while anti-gravity devices and other props help the performers appear to dance gracefully underwater.
