Yang Liping's Dance Work Jing Chu Impression
Jing Chu Impression is the first large-scale stage epic to present Jingchu culture through song and dance. The production is based on Qu Yuan’s four classic works: Tianwen, Jiuge, Lisao, and Jusong. It integrates various traditional art forms such as opera, shadow puppetry, puppetry, and martial arts, combined with the latest stage technology to vividly recreate the “Jingchu World” depicted in the Chu Ci poems. The performance showcases the epic history of over two thousand years ago that was passionate and intertwined with love and hate. Dance artist Yang Liping serves as the artistic director and chief choreographer, with a team of top national and international artists including music director Tan Dun, chief writer Liang Geluo, and set designer Zhang Qingshan.
