Everlasting Regret by Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre

Everlasting Regret is produced by the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre and adapted from WANG Anyi's novel of the same name. The essence of the 270,000-word novel is distilled into three and a half hours on stage, unfolding a panorama of Shanghai's customs from the 1940s to the 1980s. The Shanghai dialect version of the play is written by ZHAO Yaomin, directed by ZHOU Xiaoqian, and features set design by XU Xiaohuan. A cast of talented actors brings WANG Anyi’s vivid characters to life in Shanghai dialect, presenting a “modern Shanghai epic” and evoking the faded dreams of the city’s bygone splendor.
