

The Suzhou National Orchestra is a professional orchestra at the municipal level in Suzhou, with renowned conductor Peng Jiapeng serving as the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor and famous erhu player and composer Zhu Changyao as the Artistic Advisor. The orchestra comprises more than ninety musicians, including prominent performers from both China and abroad and outstanding talents who graduated from renowned music institutions such as the Central Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The orchestra commissioned the symphonic suite Jiangnan composed by famous composer Xu Changjun. He interweaves five movements with elements of the Jiangnan region, integrating Kunqu opera, Pingtan storytelling, guqin, and bianzhong with the ethnic orchestra, using a symphony of Chinese silk and bamboo instruments to depict the beauty of the Jiangnan region.
