Title of Project:Ballet Tang Yin by Suzhou Ballet Theatre
Genre(s): Ballet. Dance Drama.
GROUP:Suzhou Ballet Theatre
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF : Tang Yin is the 7th production of Suzhou Ballet Theatre of this 10th anniversary. Tang Yin is wrongfully accused of divulging the answers to the imperial examination. Despite his innocence, he is imprisoned and his career comes to ruin. He hides his ambition deeply in his heart and becomes a man who cares about nothing. At the lowest ebb of his life, Tang Yin meets his true love, Jiu Niang. They decide to live in seclusion at Peach Temple. Later, the Prince of Ning comes to Tang Yin. The Prince tries to use fame and wealth to tempt Tang Yin and join his troop in rebelling against the Emperor. Tang Yin’s ambition ends here. Fate seems to taunt him once again. His true love, Jiu Niang, dies not long after. Finally, Tang Yin allows him to sink into the uncertainty of life and insipidly waits to drift into the other world. When we dive deeply into the life of Tang Yin, the main character of this ballet, we would find that he was not only a gifted artist but also a cultural representative of his era which still has influence on our generation continuously. The complexity of humanity is presented through his tumultuous life and his struggle between fame and freedom. This classical character is rebuilt through his struggle as Tang Yin, who finds his own way towards a unique aesthetic. More modern dance elements are added to the ballet, and more enjoyable movements make the ballet full of emotion to help the audience feel the role. Music of famous Estonian composer Arvo Part brings full of elegant charm. Lingering sound, a long aftertaste.
