Der Ring des Nibelungen, composed by the German composer Richard Wagner over the course of 26 years, is hailed as the "greatest opera ever written." A dedicated theater was constructed in Bayreuth, Germany, specifically for its performance. "Der Ring des Nibelungen" is comprised of four major parts: "Das Rheingold," "Die Walküre," "Siegfried," and "Götterdämmerung." The complete cycle typically requires four evenings, totaling around 16 hours of performance. In 2010, the German National Opera in Cologne presented "Der Ring des Nibelungen" in Shanghai Grand Theatre, creating a tremendous sensation. This year, coinciding with the 70th birthday of the "Conductor Tsar" Valery Gergiev, he will collaborate with nearly 300 artists from the Mariinsky Theatre to come together at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival. They will perform this grand masterpiece, marking a significant cultural event in the vibrant autumn of Shanghai.
