"King of Chu" to close the 11the CHIna Shanghai International Arts Festival




The original Opera "King of Chu" will be presented at Oriental Arts Center on the night of Nov 18th, which serving as closing performance of 11th China Shanghai International Arts Festival.

Press conference of "King of Chu" was held this afternoon at CITIC Square. Tacking the historical subject " War between Han and Chu", two kingdoms in the 3rd century BC, the opera breaks the traditional limit of "the conflict between two kings Xiang Yu and Liu Bang, and turns to the essence of the event- the new versus the old a history bound to be the victory of Han and failure of Chu.

The "King of Chu" pieces together the best cast including celebrated artists Wei Song,Yang Xiaoyong, Zhao Qing, Chi Liming, and Chorus of Shanghai Opera House, Shanghai Dance Troupe, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Famous composer Jin Xiang visited the hometown of Xiang Yu and Liu Bang in person, collecting "sound of Chu&Han" . Jin's first opera" Wilderness" made great success in Beijing, Taiwan, USA and Switzerland.
