Chongqing Culture Week opens Chongqing Culture Week of 11th China Shanghai International Arts Festival opened last night at The Majestic Theatre with Opera "Wushan Goddess" performed by Chongqing Opera House and Chongqing Symphony Orchestra. "Wushan Goddess" tells a romantic legend: a reef blocking off the Yangtze River breaks itself because of love and grief to become a respectable goddess. The opera has been awarded the prize for excellent program and performance in the 10th Chinese Drama Festival in 2007. Since 2005, the 7th China Shanghai International Arts Festival founded the domestic guests Province Culture Week, the festival has successfully held Culture Week of Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Hubei. Culture Week has become an important activity of each festival. In addition to the stage performances, "Wushan Goddess", Choral Symphony "Yangtze River" and Sichuan Opera "Ya-Sin," the Chongqing Culture Week also presents the Yu Garden, Chongqing Session everyday speech, cultural lectures, arts and college activities.
