Title of Project:Experimental Dance Drama Qi
Genre(s): Dance Drama.
GROUP:Shi Jingxin
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF : Sun|10/21|18:00, 20:00|60 mins Front Lawn, Shanghai Theatre Academy Qi, as an experimental dance drama, is made up of artists major in Acting and Dance, presenting the "Qi" as external and/or object and the "Qi" as sprit (those two different Chinese characters share the same pronunciation). It uses the core technique of the “Body Architect” training method: the micro body’s 25 moving points to develop the body, form the body language cipher, the body building space, which forms dialogue and interaction with space. What is body? What is the essence of dance? What is the language of the future? These questions have always been the source of the artist’s creative enthusiasm. Further, the relationship between body and spirit has been the artist’s recent concern and theme of practices. What is the meaning of choosing to be "human"? What is the composition of “man” and what is his/her capability and possibility? Questions like this inspire the artist to initiate the imagination, conception and creation of this work, trying to find a spontaneous internal structure of the interaction between body and space. Starting from the unknown improvisation, one may establish or find the order.
