BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF : Sat|10/20|16:45|30 mins B1 Pearl Hall-5, InterContinental Shanghai Jing’An Bone flute of 8,000 years, pottery Xun (egg-shaped aerophone) of 5,000 years, chime bells of 3,000 years, Guqin (plucked seven-string Chinese musical instrument of the zither family) of 2,000 years, musician figurines of 1,000 years. All the musical instruments used in this concert are replicas of the actual ones that were unearthed from ancient tombs. The music is composed by experts in accordance with the ancient music scores. The performers’ costumes are reproduction of those found in tombs including actual remaining dress and images on pottery musician figurines. Even the stage scenes are designed based upon archaeological materials. The concert demonstrates the development of Chinese ancient music with a combination of music of different periods through ancient musical instruments found in the central plain of China.
