The Third China Shanghai International Arts Festival


Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, The China Shanghai International Arts Festival, a national level international arts festival is hosted by the Ministry of Culture of P.R.C and implemented by Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

The purpose of the China Shanghai International Arts Festival is to present the best cultures from around the world, to promote Chinese traditional arts, to enhance Sino-international cultural exchanges and to develop cultural markets.

The China Shanghai International Arts Festival is held in Shanghai annually. The Third China Shanghai international Arts Festival will be held from 1 November to 1 December, 2001. The festival activities include performing arts programmes, arts exhibitions, public cultural activities and international performing arts fair.



The Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival


Proposed by the Ministry of Culture of People's Republic of China and approved by the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, The Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival (The Office for China Shanghai International Arts Festival) was founded in March, 2000.
The Center is responsible for the planning and operation of the annual China Shanghai International Arts Festival and also undertakes foreign cultural exchange activities. In addition, it also plans and organizes various kinds of performances, produces and publishes audio and video products, develops and manages different cultural products, offers cultural internet info services and management of cultural industries plus the investment and operation of culture funds.

The president of the Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival is Mr Chen Shenglai. The Center Consists of the Public Relations, Publicity and Planning Department, Performance and Exhibition Department and Resources Development and Advertisement Department. The Center's routine duties include peogramme planning, marketing, exhibition and promotion, public cultural activities, public relations strategies, publicity, international liaison, ticketing, advertising, fund raising, logistics, security and administration of funds, etc. The Center also has some cultural and media entities as its subsidiary organizations, such as Shanghai Cultural Exchange Agency, Shanghai Audio & Video Publishing House and Shanghai Afternoon Post.
