On the evening of August 22, as part of the "CHINA FOCUS" , Yang Liping's Rite of Spring premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival, which co-commissioned and co-produced by China Shanghai International Arts Festival and Edinburgh International Festival.

Under the cooperative system, communication and cooperation between the cultural sectors of China and England is flourishing. This is the third year of China Focus presentations during the peak festival season in Edinburgh; in 2015 the China Shanghai International Arts Festival and several UK partners, including Sadler’s Wells and the National Theatre, co-produced the highly successful Sino-UK Performing Arts Forum. In 2018, China Shanghai International Arts Festival joined Festivals Edinburgh's “Momentum” programme, creating dynamic bridges between Chinese artistic creators and their international colleagues, developing new opportunities for networking, exchanges, and future collaborations.
