On March 22, 2019, the second plenary meeting of the Sino-Italian cultural cooperation mechanism was held in Rome. Luo Shugang, the minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China; Alberto Bonisoli, the minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities of the Italian Republic; Gian Marco Centinaio, the minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policy and Tourism, were present in Rome. The meeting was chaired by Francesco Rutelli, the Italian coordinator of the Sino-Italian cultural cooperation mechanism.

During the meeting, before the leaders of both sides, the China Shanghai International Arts Festival and the Italian Emilia-Romagna Theater Association signed a memorandum of cultural cooperation. The two sides agreed to actively cooperate on program exchanges, personnel exchanges, and mutual cultural week in the next three years.
