Contemporary Dance Gala As a pioneer in the field of Chinese modern dance, Jin Xing has created a number of "firsts" in her career. In 1988, she went to the US as the first Chinese artist to receive a full scholarship for arts studies; in 1996, she became one of the founders and the first art director of the Beijing Modern Dance Company; in 1998, she gained Wen Hua Award, the first national award granted to contemporary art for her work "Red and Black"; in 1999, she established "Jin Xing Dance Company", the first-ever private dance company in ChinaThe prize-winning dancer and choreographer has given numerous solo performances and been invited as choreographer for festivals and professor of dance academies.
