National Song & Dance Gala "The Grassland in the Heaven" by Inner Mongolia Nationality Song & Dance Theatre

National Song & Dance Gala Inner Mongolia Nationality Song & Dance Ensemble shines like a bright star over the grassland beyond the north of Great Wall. Their impressive performances of national songs, dances as well as the Mongolian dramas enjoy a great reputation at home and abroad. The gala "The Grassland in the Heaven" is composed of three parts: "The Holy Heaven and Earth" brings right before the audience the life of Mongolian People, which shows their sincere love for the grassland and respect for their ancestors. "The Vast Homeland" is a glorious exhibition of the boldness and generosity of the Mongolian people, which also demonstrates the everlasting love between Mongolian lovers. In "The Splendid Demeanor" section, you will enjoy the ebullient group dance accompanied by the tuneful melody of Matouqin (or in Mongolian, the Morin Huur) all through. Quite a number of household songs like "Meeting in Ao Bao" will be restaged then. What's worth further mentioning is that the gala will present "Hu Mai", a unique sound of nature on the grassland. Hu Mai, a typical art of vocality in Mongolian nation, is sung out from the throat as a low octachord, while generating a whistle of high octachord in mouth, thus forming the vocal tamber of overtone. The only female Hu Mai vocalist of the nation will display the magic of this "living fossil".

As the biggest artistic troupe in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Nationality Song & Dance Ensemble is constituted of 12 functioning institutions, covering the areas of performance, artistic creation, stage design and academy, etc. Their creation and performance helps to promote the overall prosperity of the national arts like symphony, Mongolian choral art and national music, with Matouqin melody as its representative.
