Co-produced by Theatre Musical de Paris Chatelet and Barbican Center, multi-media opera Les Paladins will be performed by Les Arts Florissants, Compagnie Montalvo-Hervieu, together with the director and multimedia designer Jose Montalvo and under the baton of William Christie at the 6th China Shanghai International Arts Festival after its premiere in Paris.
This light-hearted baroque opera is based on a tale by La Fontaine, which was itself taken from Ariostos La Fontaine. The opera cleverly allows for musical parody and sarcasm. The Chinese dance music and imperial palaces conjured up at the end of the opera enrich the opera with an oriental flavor.
The exquisite and emotional baroque music, the valuable antique musical instruments in 18th century and the dazzling and eye-catching multimedia are integrated in this theatrical work. Jean-Philippe Rameaus comdie-lyrique is returning!
