Taking Dunhuang, the significant intersection of civilizations on the “One Belt and One Road” as background, the Daughter of Dunhuang tells the legendary life of Fan Jinshi,  Director of Dunhuang Academy, in which she spent 50 years in the desert of Gansu and dedicated herself to the studies of Dunhuang and finally grew from a Shanghai girl to a master of Dunhuang Studies.. The opera portrays the ordinary and greatness of an intellectual, eulogizes Fan Jinshi, a common Communist Party member who moved whole China, and presents the respectable sentiments of generations of Dunhuang people who have adhered to their ideals.
