The Göteborgs Symfoniker is the Swedish National Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra’s goal is to become one of the world’s top orchestras by 2020. Since 2017, Santtu Ma has become the principle conductor of the orchestra.

Wilhelm Stanhammar and Elfrida Andre are both significant composers in Swedish history and closely associated with Gothenburg. Albert Schneller is one of the most outstanding young Swedish composers of today. His music is often described as energetic, avant-garde, lyrical and fragile, but also highly acceptable to the audience.
