Yo,Carmen by Maria Pagés Dance Company
As the leading dancer of the world's three major dance troupes, Maria Pagés is dedicated to the reform and innovation of modern flamenco dance art, combining classic flamenco dance with other art forms to develop a unique dance style. The Maria Pagés Dance Troupe which was founded by herself has grown into the one of the world's most famous flamenco dance groups. She has been widely acclaimed for touring the world's major cities and has been invited and awarded by the world's major dance arts festivals.
As the choreographer and director of Yo, Carmen, Maria Pagés expressed a woman's reason and emotion through ten scenes. Female dancers perform on the principles of harmony, law, balance, and symmetry, and then express the shape and rhythm of life through physical reorganization. Maria Pagés used some of the basic movements of flamenco to create her own expressions, creating a female image that breaks the tradition and conveys the inner world of women's desire to pursue pleasure, freedom and love of life.
