The new Zhuang opera Feng Zicai, which is in the background of the Battle of Zhennan Fort, tells the story of the seventy-year-old ‘Old Chief Commander’, Feng Zicai, being entrusted with the duty of the Commissioner of Military Affairs in Guangxi and the Front Marshal at a critical and difficult moment, and fighting fiercely against western powers. This play is based on the true history of Feng Zicai of Guangxi fighting against French invaders, which was the only battle we won against foreign aggression in the modern history of China, praising the heroic act of Feng Zicai and the patriotism of the people of all ethnic groups in Guangxi, fighting together dauntlessly to defend the country.

The creation of Feng Zicai provides an excellent platform for the cultivation of the new generation of middle-aged and young actors and actresses, and also cultivates more outstanding artists for Guangxi local opera. 

The famous producer and director Liu Guicheng, and the famous director Xiong Yuanwei and the dean of the Theater of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were invited to create this play, and this opera is starred by outstanding young actors and actresses of the Theater of Guangxi Zhuang, such asHuang Huang Liqin, Mo Fenghua, Hardan, Tang Hongyou and so on.
