Jointly produced by Beijing Peking Opera Theatre and NCPA, the new-adaption of historical Peking Opera Zheng Kaofu is enriched and evolves from fless than a hundred words written in ancient historic documents. Depicted in a full sense of history, it builds an image of Zheng Kaofu who is close and loving to people as an official, fair and loyal to the emperor minister, respectful, thrifty and honest in character.

Ren Ming, the director, says, “on the basis of adherence to traditional performance and artistic features, this play is unique and distinctive in its antiquity, ancient ryhme and ancient elegance.”

In the aspect of casting, Peking Opera masters Du Zhenjie, Li Hongtu, Zhang Huifang to-gether with young famous Peking Opera performers Zhang Jianfeng, Yang Shaopeng lead the roles. The singing design, composing and conducting are magnificent and delicate, through zither, sheng and other ancient instruments. In terms of music and singing and based on the behaviors of charac-ters, the opera fully shows the attraction and charm of Laosheng (eldly male) genre of Peking Opera.
