Yueju Opera Couple Wings by Shanghai Yueju Opera Troupe is set in the controversy between Li Party and Niu Party during the late Tang Dynasty, telling the experience of Li Shangyin, a talented and ambitious poet who has to make decisions when confronted with conflicted political background. It focuses on the sentiments of Li Shangyin including his love with Wang Yunyan and his brotherhood with Linghu Tao.

Couple Wings is written by LI Li, directed by LU Ang, composed by RU Jinshan and starred by Yueju Opera artists including Qian Huili, Wang ZhiPing and HUANG Hui. Qian Huili and Wang ZhiPing who once won Plum Performance Award and Magnolia Award, has co-performed many works on the same stage. In this opera, they shape Li Shangyin and Wang Yunyan successfully through their tacit cooperation.

Besides, this opera inherit the characteristics of drama and Kunqu Opera. On the one hand, it learns the creation method of psychological realism from drama, emphasizing on characters’experience and typical personalities. On the other hand, it combines singing and dancing like Kunqu Opera, full of elegance and charm.
