International Arts Festival charms Wuxi

The Prague Symphony Orchestra's performance was the highlight on Oct 17 – the first day of the 17th China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF) Wuxi Branch at Wuxi Grand Theater. All 1,500 seats were occupied at the concert, reported the Jiangnan Evening News.

The Prague Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1934, has been part of several projects mixing metal and classical music. It has traveled extensively in Europe, Japan and the United States, and recorded for many different labels.

The arts festival includes 84 performances, including 17 stage shows, 17 exhibitions and 50 mass cultural activities, 16 percent more than last year.

In addition to symphonies, there is magic by German magician Topas, the China National Peking Opera Company's modern Peking opera The Red Lantern and Wuxi Performing Arts Group's dance opera The Flowers of War during the event.

Wuxi audiences can enjoy the festival from Oct 7 to Nov 1.
