Shanghai International Arts Festival is hosted by People’s Republic of China Ministry of Culture of, undertook by Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. It’s the only national comprehensive international arts festival in China and is also one of the famous arts festivals which represent the landmark project of China’s foreign cultural exchange and have an important influence all over the world. Wuxi province is the only city where Shanghai International Arts Festival set sub-venue activities. It has successfully held three time’s venues since 2012.

Hosted by the Organizing Committee of CSIAF, undertook by Wuxi Municipal People's Government and China Shanghai International Arts Festival Center, this Wuxi Venue of Arts Festival will be held from Oct. 17th to Nov. 1st. There will be 83 activities, including 16 selected stage productions, more than 50 mass cultural activities and 17 exhibitions in private culture centers. The overall quantity of activities has increased a lot. 

The activities of Wuxi Venue of 17th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will include three categories:

1.Boutique Stage Productions

The opening performance will be the first show of Prague Symphony Orchestra, which is the symphonic music culture representative and enjoys a high reputation in the international music scene. The orchestra will not only play Smetana and Dvorak’s classical music but also perform plural classic works of Chinese music master Liu Tianhua. They will cooperate with Chinese artists to present Reflection of the Moon. There will also be Germany Topas special performance, National Peking Opera modern opera The Red Lantern and original large ethnic dance drama War Flower. At the closing performance, Peony Award Troupe, organized by Chinese Artists Association will interact with the mass and the public of Wuxi will be able to see famous artists then.

2.Mass Cultural Displays

To raise the art production of local people, this International Arts Festival has organized ten performances of the local arts talents and cultural institutions, which was selected in the form of community bulletins by the Organizing Committee of CSIAF. There will be 15 dramas performed in Xiju Museum.

3.Expos and Exhibitions

In one month, there will be diverse exhibitions in 12 private culture center in Wuxi, fully embodying the passion of communities in Wuxi province.

The activities of this Wuxi Venue of Shanghai International Arts Festival embody four characteristics: 1. The leading of art. Through the introduction of multiple international high standard of stage performance, offering the rich spiritual and cultural feast to the citizens of Wuxi, broadening the cultural horizons of the general public, the Arts Festival plays a leading role in fostering the development of Wuxi cultural market and cultural consumption atmosphere. 2. Culture benefiting the public. The performances of sub-venue provide large quantities of low-priced tickets to the public, under the government subsidies. At the same time, multiply arts cultural performance, the mass cultural displays and exhibitions motivate more people to enjoy the art. 3. The cooperation of each county. Two provinces and seven counties will cooperate and emphasize on one theme respectively.4.Operation of the market. Besides that some important performances subsidized by the government, the others are put into marketization operation to enable communities initiative.
