Passionate Africa in Shanghai  A China Tour of Linguere National Ballet of Senegal Linguere means princess in the local languange Wolof of Senegal. Founded in 1960, Linguere National Ballet of Senegal is one of the three companies of National Theatre Daniel Sorano and it has 35 dancers currently. As the outstanding cultural envoy of Africa, the company bears great reputation in that continent, and it travels all over the world. Linguere won the prize of Tunis Carthage Festival in 1970, the prize of best dance of LA Arts Festival in 1995 and the prize of French manosque Art Festival in 1998.

The dancers of Linguere can be gentle, concise but powerful; they can also be passionate, mysterious and sexy. Linguere's dance is able to convey strong and vivid image directly to the audiences: it can be a joyful gathering, or a keen dancing campaign. Linguere expresses the power of Africa by its rhythm and color, and it tells the world that tradition can be developing with the authenticity of African arts.
